A Legacy of Leadership and Giving Back

Sea Star Base Galveston (SSBG) has long stood as a cornerstone of the Galveston community and a nationally recognized hub for maritime education. Founded through the philanthropy and vision of Captain Charles and Rosemary Doolin, the facility was built with one mission: to provide transformative aquatic programs that instill leadership, confidence, and a lifelong respect for the sea.

Over the years, SSBG has forged partnerships with esteemed institutions including NOAA, Moody Neuro, UTMB, and Texas A&M Galveston, expanding its reach as a trusted venue for education, therapy, competition, and community engagement. Its inclusive, 100% ADA-compliant, waterfront campus has welcomed people of all ages and abilities, becoming a model for access and inclusivity.

SSBG has proudly hosted world-class events and organizations such as the Koch Cup, Special Olympics, Google, and countless programs serving children and veterans alike. With adaptive sailing capabilities, large-scale fishing tournaments, environmental education, and marine training at its core, the base has impacted tens of thousands of lives — a lasting testament to the Doolin family’s generosity and vision.

Now, with the property officially back on the market, a new chapter is ready to be written. This is more than a sale — it’s an opportunity for the next steward to build upon a legacy of service, community, and connection to the sea.
